About Essex AA

Following the formation of The Amateur Athletic Association (AAA) in 1880 the governing body for athletics throughout England and Wales and the first national governing body for the sport in the world, the Essex County Amateur Athletic Association was founded some three years later in 1883.

The object of the Association is to encourage, organise and manage athletics in the County of Essex and in the furtherance of that object to exercise such duties and powers as may be laid upon the Association by the Laws of England Athletics (hereinafter called EA).
